The OCRI Scientific Studies and Outcomes Research ("Outcomes") department conducts research on post-market drugs and devices (approved by the FDA), new surgical techniques, non-operative treatments, and economic analysis. Outcomes research seeks to understand the end results of particular health care practices and interventions. End results include the effects that people experience and care about, such as improvement in the ability to function. By linking the care people get to the outcomes they experience, outcomes research is critical to improving the quality of healthcare. The results from this research are shared with the orthopedic community through international presentations at professional conferences and publications in prestigious medical journals.
