Eighth Annual Joint Celebration

April 16,2010

Ballantyne Resort, Charlotte, NC

The 8th Annual Joint Celebration will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, NC.

The primary goal of The Joint Celebration is to raise awareness of the success of total joint replacement surgery and to celebrate a restored quality of life for ‘bionic’ patients (those with total joint replacements).

The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with a physician-led educational seminar, "How Far Have We Come - How Far Can We Go in Total Joint Replacement?" OrthoCarolina physicians will discuss the advances and possibilities of all joint replacements including ankle, knee, hip, disc, finger, elbow and shoulder. Panelists also include a rheumatologist and a physical therapist.

The seminar is free, and open to the public.

Afternoon activities include the Bionic Open Golf Tournament, a "Wellness Walk," and a Silent Auction. The walk and the golf tournament occur simultaneously, so you are able to participate in either activity, but not both.

The Bionic Open Golf Tournament (currently 45 registered as of 3/8/10 at 7:00p)
The golf tournament begins at 11:30a.m. Golf registration is limited and foursomes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Play will begin with a shotgun start at noon and a reception and prize presentations will follow. Roughly 80 bionic players will take part in the golf tournament. Other players will include OrthoCarolina physicians, guest physicians and corporate sponsors. The tournament is designed for serious golfers as well as those who just want to have fun!

An $80 green fee (minimum) includes: morning seminar, breakfast, boxed lunch, silent auction participation, award ceremony (team/individual), reception and gift bag. Any payment in excess of the green fee ($80) is tax deductible. A receipt will be provided.

The “Wellness Walk” (currently 21 registered as of 3/8/10 at 7:00p)
The walk begins at 11:30a.m. following a seminar lead by the OrthoCarolina Physical Therapy staff on “The Importance of Stretching.” The fun walk follows a path that winds through the beautiful Ballantyne Resort landscape and will conclude around 12:00pm with boxed lunches on the patio overlooking the 18th hole.

A $25 minimum donation (tax deductible), includes: morning seminar, breakfast, “Importance of Stretching seminar, luncheon, silent auction participation, and gift bag.

The Silent Auction (all day) features items donated by local businesses and private donors.  Please click here for a list of items that have donated to the auction to date (this list will be periodically updated). If you are a business and would like to donate an item, please complete the donation form and email to ocresearch@orthocarolina.com or fax to 704.323.3967.

The Joint Celebration is also an occasion to raise funds that will support and continue critical research for the development of improved devices, better outcomes, and reduced healthcare costs for orthopedic patients. The OrthoCarolina Research Institute is a 501(c) (3) organization. A portion of your participation fee may be tax deductible.
