2008 Joint Celebration 'Bionic' participants
For the past six years, The Joint Celebration—Bionic Open Golf Tournament
has celebrated the improved quality of life of “bionic” patients, or those who
have had total joint replacement surgery. The Seventh Annual Joint
Celebration will take place on Friday, April 17th at the Ballantyne Resort in
Charlotte, N.C. We invite you join us to help raise awareness of how successful
total joint replacement surgery has become.
Based on patient interest and past participation, we are excited to announce
that the event has been expanded to include both morning and afternoon
activities. Please review the activities and their descriptions below.
ACTIVITIES

integrative medical treatments, and how to “live well” with a total joint
replacement.
*Panelists include OrthoCarolina Total Joint Surgeons, local rheumatologist
(Alan Elliott, MD) www.aocc.md/bio6.htmland/or integrative medicine physician(Bridget S. Bongaard, FACP)

*Golf registration is limited and foursomes will be filled on a first-come, first-
served basis.
*Roughly 160 bionic players will take part in the golf tournament (60 in the

designed for serious golfers as well as those who just want to have fun!

*A reception and prize presentations follow each tournament
*Morning golfers are encouraged to stay for the 2:00PM seminar and are invited
to stay for the 05:30PM awards ceremony and reception

“Wellness Walk” (begins at 11:00am following the morning seminar)
*The OrthoCarolina Physical Therapy staff will discuss the “The Importance of
Stretching” and will lead participants through a stretching routine.
*The fun walk follows a path that winds through the beautiful Ballantyne Resort
landscape and will conclude around 12:00pm with a luncheon and door prizes.
*The walk and the afternoon golf tournament occur simultaneously, so plan to
participate in one of the activities, but not both.
