During the summer of 2006, two research organizations, the O.L. Miller Research Institute and Charlotte Orthopedic Research Institute, merged to form the OrthoCarolina Research Institute, Inc. Both research entities were organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, the O.L. Miller Research Institute in 2002 and Charlotte Orthopedic Research Institute in 1990. The merger brought together highly qualified investigators, regulatory expertise, and an impressive list of ongoing FDA regulated Clinical Trials, industry sponsored studies, peer reviewed grants, and academic studies.
The OrthoCarolina Research Institute (ORCI) is classified as a 501(c)(3) organization within the meaning of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. OCRI works with area hospitals, regional academic institutions and research groups, other non-profit organizations, and community programs to advance orthopedic research and education.
